Seagate Development Group announces the addition of Damon Barnes as Vice President of Finance | Corporate Controller. He oversees financial, accounting and industry-related technologies for all Seagate business segments.

“Damon applies his 20-plus years of experience across a wide variety of fields to make our financial processes uniform, efficient and interchangeable,” said James Nulf, Jr., Chief Operating Officer & Partner of Seagate Development Group. “Our company is consistently evolving and expanding, so to have found someone who can provide next-level management in the midst of that growth means that we are in more than capable hands.”

With bachelor’s degrees in pre-law, finance and accounting, Damon launched his career as a controller for publicly traded Alico, Inc. One of the largest citrus producers and land management companies in Florida ultimately named him Director of Financial Planning & Analysis – responsible for special projects and acquisitions in Florida and New York.

Damon later became Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Windmill Farms Nurseries, playing a critical role in taking them from a small family grower to supplying Lowe’s and Home Depot stores from Texas to Florida. He eventually took on a Chief Financial Officer position for five-entity Everglades Family of Companies during its transition from Winter Garden to LaBelle.

A Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant, Damon went to work for himself – providing start-up businesses and well-established organizations with tax planning, IT implementation and accounting tools – just ahead of accepting a position with Seagate.

“I am accustomed to working with and on behalf of rapidly growing companies that operate as multiple entities and bring in hundreds of millions of dollars per year, so I am thrilled to play a pivotal role in Seagate’s success,” Damon said.
