FORT MYERS, Florida (November 7, 2022) — New, powerful emergency generator systems are now being installed at four critical Lee County emergency shelter locations. The recipients of these new systems are Veterans Park and Recreation Center in Lehigh Acres, Alico Arena and Treeline Elementary Schools in south Fort Myers, and Manatee Elementary School in east Fort Myers. The dynamic new units will be capable of powering the entire electrical system of each shelter. The current systems at both Manatee and Treeline Elementary are slated for replacement in that they are antiquated and lack adequate power. Veterans Park and Alico Arena will be receiving new installations.
After a lengthy bidding process, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners procured the services of Seagate Development Group to handle the crucial upgrades. The development and installations will be carried out by Seagate’s Commercial Building Division headed by Mark Coon, Vice President of that division. Among the duties Seagate’s Commercial Division will provide include carrying-out all necessary demolition of old equipment, provide and install new generators and transfer switches, provide all electrical underground feeders and hook-ups, system testing, and all necessary structural, concrete and masonry work needed for the new powerhouses. Another Seagate division, Earth Tech Enterprises, will assist in site work support.
Seagate has selected state-of-the-art Generac Industrial Generators as the source for reliable backup-power for all four shelters. The project is currently under way and is slated for completion in 2023. After completion Lee County will maintain the new units.
Mr. Coon stated, “This project is a very complex installation which is perfectly suited for us, but more importantly, we’re really honored to put together systems that will bring a lot of comfort to those who may need it someday.”
The four shelters receiving the new generators are:
• Veterans Park and Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Rd S., Lehigh Acres, 33936
• Alico Arena, 12181 FGCU Lake Parkway East, Fort Myers, 33913
• Treeline Elementary School, 10900 Treeline Ave, Fort Myers, 33913
• Manatee Elementary School, 5301 Tice St, Fort Myers, 33905
Recently, Seagate Development Group announced their completion of the Fort Myers based biotechnology company EmCyte Corporation’s latest project—a 13,000+ square-foot state-of-the-art climate-controlled warehouse addition and a nearly 2,000-square-foot office suite and lab in their original building. The cost was $2.2 million. In late 2021, Seagate also completed the renovation of EmCyte’s approximately 5,000-square-foot manufacturing space.
