FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 18, 2024) – Seagate Development Group has commenced construction on a new 21,800-square-foot retail facility for Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, located in Estero Town Commons at the southeast corner of Corkscrew Road and Three Oaks Parkway.
The new store represents an upgrade from Goodwill’s current location, which has become insufficient for the growing demand. The existing facility, located approximately half a mile away on Corkscrew Road, will be replaced by this larger, more versatile space.
“We are honored to break ground on this new retail space with Goodwill,” said Matt Price, CEO of Seagate Development Group.
“Seagate is pleased to begin construction and we look forward to our partnership with a wonderful community cause. This project embodies our commitment to supporting organizations that make a positive impact in our community.”
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key stakeholders from Seagate and Goodwill SWFL, as well as State Representative Spencer Roach.
“We are looking forward to expanding our services to the community,” said Doug Stewart, COO of Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida. “Each year, our Goodwill agency helps tens of thousands of people. We primarily deliver our mission services through our retail stores. Our ability to expand this store from the size that it is to this new location, will bring in more donations and help us do more in this market.”
The new store will include a drive-thru donation center, receiving dock and parking lot. The building color will be light beige with a decorative tile roof and brown trim. Parts of the building will also feature awnings, trellises with plant materials and architectural columns.
The new location is scheduled for completion by March 2025, marking a new chapter in Goodwill SWFL’s ongoing efforts to better serve the community.
Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida operates 25 retail stores and 11 attended donation centers in Southwest Florida. These popular “thrift stores” support its mission of helping people with disabilities and other disadvantages overcome their barriers to employment and independence. The nonprofit organization’s stores also serve as a training ground for many of its clients, who gain valuable work experience and job skills.
