Seagate Development Group has commenced on-site and off-site construction of Scotlynn USA Division Inc.’s North American corporate headquarters. The future location for the multinational transportation and logistics firm — specializing in truckload transportation and perishable products distribution — is 9597 Gulf Research Lane in Fort Myers.

The off-site work includes the extension of Gulf Research Lane eastward, along with the installation of utilities, which is more than 90% complete. Seagate has also begun importing the fill needed to raise the road and start the road extension. This phase of the eight-acre project will continue through project completion next summer.

Last month, with land cleared and the site partially filled, Seagate completed the vibro-replacement column work under the footprint of what will ultimately be a three-story, 60,000-square-foot building. Crews then finished filling the building pads and casting pads. And just two weeks ago, they got to work on the foundation. Now, the company is on track for the tilting up of wall sections, followed by topping off the building.

“We’re off to more than a great start, as Seagate prepares Fort Myers for Scotlynn’s major expansion and, with that, the onboarding of over 100 new employees,” said Matt Price, CEO & Partner of Seagate Development

Group. “There’s nothing more refreshing to hear than that during times of such uncertainty. “We’ll ultimately

incorporate industrial-type interior design elements that reflect Scotlynn, making them feel right at home in our prospering city where they’ll continue their mission to become a world-class leader in freight transportation.”

With division offices in Tampa and Indianapolis, Scotlynn’s new headquarters will be occupied by 350 management and operations team members over the next three years. This staff will have full access to a gym, basketball court, cafeteria, walking track, and an indoor/outdoor recreational space and eating area.

“We are very pleased to see how quickly the team at Seagate has moved to make our dream headquarters a reality,” said Ryan D. Carter, Executive Vice President of Scotlynn Transport LLC and Scotlynn USA Division Inc. “As the building starts to take shape, so does Scotlynn’s plans for Fort Myers and enthusiasm for 2021.”
